Roughcast or pebble dash has been designed to withstand the Scottish weather rain, wind and cold. Over the years the weather and organic growth pays its toll on the walls mostly the north west side of buildings that are shaded from the little sunshine we have ;-]
Over the years roughcast will discolour to a grey as it ages and it also lets algae and moulds and marks appear on the surface of the wall. The deeper darker marks we find are under the window sills this is from water running over the same course creating organic growth to show as a black mould.
The black marks below the window sills or as we call them The Tears Of a House. ;-] are the last marks to lift off the roughcast surface as they are usually the first to appear. We usually see these marks clear after a week of good Scottish rain after we treat them with Algo Clear Pro Products.
